Books-for-Folks  &  Employment Assistance

The following came across the FOSCL on September 6, 2005

Books-for-Folks :        http://www.booksforfolks.org/

Former New Orleans resident and Gulf native author Janis Owens has created an organization to provide books for relief centers, libraries and schools hit by Hurricane Katrina. The program is getting enthusiastic support from the Southeastern Booksellers Association, the American Library Association, and authors.

Anyone who would like to participate should contact Janis Owens at   folks@booksforfolks.org.

Employment Opportunities:

Many booksellers, publishers and librarians lost employment with Katrina.  Two organizations have been formed to support them.  Also, if your library could offer employment, contact these groups.
